Asmahane Boudjadar broke the world record in the women’s F33 javelin as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics Grand Prix continued in Dubai today.

The Algerian managed 11.99 metres to win the F33/34 class at the Dubai Police Officers Club stadium, adding 48cm to the record she set herself in Tunisia a year ago.

Germany’s Frances Hermann finished second as Greek thrower Anthi Liagkou claimed an F33 European record with 11.26m for bronze.

In the women’s F52/53 javelin, Greece’s Dimitra Korokida won with an effort of 10.24 but Iran’s Zahra Kiani Haft Lang set an Asian record of 9.73m for silver.

On the track, Swiss wheelchair racer Marcel Hug continued his good form with victory in the T54 800m final.

The world bronze medallist was timed at 1 min 36.43 sec to add to his 1500m and 5,000m titles in Dubai.

Another Swiss, Bojan Mitic, finished well clear of the field to win the T33/34 800m while Spain’s former multiple world champion Santiago Sanz triumphed in the men’s T51/52 800m.

French European champion Pierre Fairbank was too good for the field in the men’s T53 800m as he claimed gold.

The women’s 800m T34 was won by Australia’s Rosemary Little with Switzerland’s Catherine Debrunner taking the T53 800m crown.

Dutch wheelchair racer Margriet van den Broek finished first in the T54 800m.

Fastest in the men’s 200m T11 finals was Sakhatov Miran from Uzbekistan who clocked 24.37, while in the 200m T12 Azerbaijan’s Elmir Jabrayilov came out on top in 23.25.

In the women’s sprints, Russia’s Elena Tretiakova raced home to win the 200m T37/38/44 in 31.02, with her compatriot Anastasia Soloveva finishing fastest in the 200m T46/47 in 26.69.

World T42 long jump champion Atsushi Yamamoto added another title to his CV with the Japanese athlete’s fifth round effort of 6.35m enough for victory.

That was just 1cm shy of the Asian record he equalled last month.

Dutch world silver medallist Ronald Hertog came out on top in the men’s long jump T44 thanks to his opening leap of 7.23m.

Dimitrios Zisdis saw off a tough field to win the men’s shot put F32.

The Greek’s third round effort of 8.45m secured the win ahead of Algerians Karim Betina and Lahouari Bahlaz, who finished second and third respectively.

There was an African record for Algeria’s Paralympic champion Kamel Kardjena, who threw 10.91m to take gold in the F33 shot put.

In the men’s javelin F35/36/37/38 there was an Americas record for Columbia’s Luis Fernando who registered 43.39m for gold.
