For those of a certain age, January 1st was the ultimate college football day.
There will four games– The Sugar and Cotton Bowl earlier in the day, the mid afternoon Rose Bowl and the late night Orange Bowl. It was the end of the season, although there would be a few more “all-star” games played. The East-West Game, the Hula Bowl and the Senior Bowl would round out the season, but those weren’t all that important.
Today, the New Year’s Day Bowls are just a preliminary to the most important game and biggest money maker of all, the College Football Playoff Championship Game.
Everyone will make money on these games today. Everyone that is, except the players.
