America’s Mikaela Shiffrin has become the first skier to win overall, slalom, giant slalom and super-G International Ski Federation World Cup titles in one season after her victory in Andorra.
Shiffrin had already secured the overall, slalom and super-G titles, winning the giant slalom discipline today with a victory in the season-closing event.
The world number one led the competition after she completed her first run in 1:09.74mins, meaning she only had to finish 15th in the second run to come first.
Her time of 1:13.43 in the second run gave her the win with a total time of 2:23.17.
It was also the 60th World Cup victory of her career.
World junior champion Alice Robinson of New Zealand took second place in 2:23.47, while Slovakia’s Petra Vlhova finished third in 2:23.58.
“I wanted to really, really earn it and deserve it,” Shiffrin said.
“I’m really happy with my skiing and the whole day.
“I had energy for today.
“I was able to compete with focus.
“It’s amazing.”
France’s Clement Noel won the men’s competition with a total time of 1:48.96, ahead of Austria’s Manuel Feller in 1:49.14 and Switzerland’s Daniel Yule in 1:49.79.
Austria’s Marcel Hirscher, who had already secured the giant slalom title, finished 14th.
Hirscher also took the men’s overall World Cup title.
