India’s Sai Praneeth has jumped 18 places up the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) Destination Dubai Rankings to break into the top 10.
Following his maiden Superseries final victory in Singapore last month, defeating compatriot Kidambi Srikanth, Praneeth claimed 9,200 points to move into the number 10 spot in the men’s rankings.
Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen is first in the rankings, which will decide who features in the Dubai World Superseries Finals being held in December.
He currently has 22,040 points after reaching the final at the India Open and the semi-final of the All England Open.
Chou is 250 points in front of Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen while Malaysian Lee Chong Wei, the men’s singles silver medalist at the last three Olympic Games, sits in third place.
China’s Lin Dan, the Olympic champion from Beijing 2008 and London 2012, is fourth.
The top eight from the rankings will qualify for the tournament in December being held at the Hamdan Sports Complex.
