I happened to be listening to Colin Cowherd and Jason Whitlock and part of their conversation was the fact that, in their judgement, it was a terrible shame that athletes are the only students on college and university campuses who are not trained in their profession.
First off, these two gentlemen need to do some journalist research and they will see that college athletes don’t go to college to major in football, men’s and women’s basketball and so on.
Student athletes have the option of selecting their major and as part of the selection process sport management is offered as a major and discipline at many colleges and universities today.
One of the leaders in sport education worldwide has been the United States Sports Academy. The Academy has made major contributions to sport by conducting sport education programs over 60 countries all over the world and continues to service the world through sport education.
The Academy since its founding has stayed true to its mission.
“The United States Sports Academy is an independent, non-profit, accredited, special mission sports university created to serve the nation and the world with programs in instruction, research, and service. The role of the Academy is to prepare men and women for careers in the profession of sports”. Additionally, The United States Sports Academy is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of the Academy.”
The Academy is also licensed and approved by the Alabama Department of Education to grant the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
Student athletes who attend colleges and universities that offer sport as a major and discipline do have the opportunity to learn about sport as a profession.
The Academy has a long list of Alumni that have taken full advantage their academy sport education and putting what they learned to practice in sport settings globally.
Gentleman do yourselves a favor and learn a little about a sport educational institution that is totally dedicated to sport education and has a proven record of said.
