Qatar Promises an Air-Conditioned World Cup
Qatar, where summertime temperatures frequently surpass 40 C (104 F), has announced that all 12 of the stadiums it plans to use for the 2022 World Club soccer tournament will be air conditioned, and open-air, as required by FIFA.

USOC Inks Training Base Deal with University of East London
Inside the Games reports that the United States Olympic team recently secured training and preparation facilities in London for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games. More than 1000 athletes will have access to training and medical services as well as accommodation in new facilities currently under construction by the University of East London. The new $32 million complex is due to open in 2011.

At the recent Global Sports Industry Congress in London, Dmitry Chernyshenko, CEO of the Sochi Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2014, compared social changes taking place in Sochi as a result of Games planning to another Russian revolution.
