The United States Sports Academy has entered into an articulation agreement with Bishop State Community College that aims to help students pursue careers in the world of sport through completion of the Academy’s Bachelor of Sports Science (B.S.S.) degree.

Under the agreement, the Academy will admit qualified Bishop State graduates into its Bachelor of Sports Science degree program, which offers majors in sports coaching, sports management, sports strength and conditioning and sports studies. The Academy’s bachelor’s degree is a fully online, flexible program that allows students to enroll and start at any time, as well as complete the degree at their own pace.

In return, Bishop State will allow Academy bachelor’s degree students who have not completed some courses in the state-required General Education Curriculum to take them through study with Bishop State.

The Academy’s bachelor’s program is an upper-division baccalaureate program, which means students must have first successfully completed some of their foundations courses (a minimum of 30 hours) elsewhere before enrolling. Additional foundations courses can be taken concurrently at another institution while the student is pursuing the Academy bachelor’s degree. Likewise, the agreement allows for “reverse transfer” through which Bishop State students can apply foundations courses taken at the Academy toward their associate’s degree at Bishop State.

The Academy will also work with Bishop State to develop sports-related curricula that are mutually acceptable to both institutions. In addition, the Academy will invite qualified Bishop State faculty members to become members of the Academy’s National Faculty, a prestigious group of faculty members who teach in the institution’s various sport education programs around the world.

“The United States Sports Academy is pleased to formalize this agreement with Bishop State Community College,” said Academy President and CEO Dr. T.J. Rosandich.

“I believe that this step forward will enable the two institutions to work together to provide more opportunities for students in Southwest Alabama to further their education, particularly in the many disciplines of sports. We’re looking forward to working with our colleagues at Bishop State in making this goal a reality.”

“This agreement represents another option for our graduates at Bishop State Community College to make a seamless transfer to the United States Sports Academy,” added Bishop State President Dr. Reginald Sykes.
