Japan’s Sara Takanashi continued her sensational International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup form today, claiming her eighth successive victory at Oslo’s legendary Holmenkollen hill,
The 19-year-old produced the longest jump of the day of 137.5 metres on the large hill before backing that up with a 136m second attempt.
This gave her a total of 305.8 points to put her 20.7 clear of second-placed Norwegian, Maren Lundby, despite the home star having produced an excellent 136.5m on her second attempt.
Irina Avvakumova of Russia finished a distant third with 254.7 points after a best leap of 130m.

It marked a 39th World Cup win for the Japanese teenager, who finished fifth at her first World Championships aged 14 in 2011 before becoming the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games gold medal winner in any event the following year in Innsbruck.
She has now won nine of this season’s 10 events, with the only blemish being a solitary second place behind Iraschko-Stolz in Nizhny Tagil in Russia in December.
Takanashi leads the overall World Cup standings with a mammoth 880 points.
Iraschko-Stolz lies a distant second with 599, while Slovenia’s Maja Vtic is third with 408.
