International Hockey Federation Extends Agreement with Musco Lighting

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced a two-year extension of their preferred supplier agreement with American firm Musco Lighting.

Musco Lighting is widely regarded as the world leader in lighting technology for sporting facilities at all levels, providing lighting solutions for nearly 40 years.

The company is committed to the development of new technology within hockey and has first-hand knowledge of lighting issues that affect participants, spectators and television viewing, it is claimed.

With Musco Lighting, FIH can supply its National Associations and other stakeholders with superior information to assist with their lighting requirements and maximise their investments.

The continuation of the agreement will contribute directly to the FIH’s revised strategy launched in November last year, designed to unite the hockey community.

FIH’s ambition is to establish “a global game that inspires the next generation’ with its purpose ‘to raise the global status and popularity of hockey”.

In a bid to achieve this, FIH has set itself four goals and defined five subsequent initiatives.

It is aiming to develop innovative and exciting entertainment events, while building a recognised, powerful image for hockey.

Furthemore, FIH wants to generate millions more hockey followers around the world and increase the degree of professionalism in the sport.

“I am delighted that we have renewed our preferred supplier agreement with Musco Lighting,” said FIH chief executive Kelly Fairweather.

“Long term preferred supplier agreements with suppliers who share our vision are of paramount importance to achieving our ten year strategy.

“Excellent facilities and the provision of these facilities are key to the continued growth of hockey across the globe.”

Musco Lighting will continue to provide pitch lighting products and installation to the winner of the FIH Pablo Negre Award, presented at the FIH Congress to the National Association that has by its activities, initiatives and sportsmanship best served the course of hockey and increased its popularity over the last two years.

The next FIH Congress is scheduled to take place in Dubai in November 2016.

Last June, it was announced that Twickenham Stadium, the home of English rugby, would become the first venue in Europe to have LED floodlights installed by Musco Lighting ahead of this year’s Rugby World Cup.
