A lot of attention is currently being paid to the physical fitness level (or lack of) among members of the American public.  There really are many things that people can do to improve their own physical fitness level (and thus their overall health).  A recent article in Science Daily does an excellent job of summarizing some of the recent thinking in this area.  This is a “must read” for anyone who wants to take control of his or her own health.

General fitness training works towards broad goals of overall health and well-being, rather than narrow goals of sport competition, larger muscles or concerns over appearance.

A regular moderate workout regimen and healthy diet can improve general appearance markers of good health such as muscle tone, healthy skin, hair and nails, while minimizing age or lifestyle-related reductions in health.
